The mission of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is to help people before, during, and after disasters. FEMA works to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the impacts of disasters, both natural and man-made. The agency coordinates federal disaster response efforts, supports state and local governments, and provides assistance to individuals and communities to enhance resilience and ensure a more effective recovery.
Easterly Government Properties owns and operates a mission-critical facility leased to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Tracy, California. This single-story, 210,373-square-foot warehouse serves as one of FEMA’s eight distribution centers within the United States and one of only four regional centers strategically positioned to respond to disasters. FEMA provides crucial supplies and support to U.S. citizens in the face of disasters, including climate emergencies, wildfires, and terror attacks.
Amid ongoing threats like California’s wildfire season, FEMA delivers on-the-ground support and funds training for response personnel across the nation as part of its preparedness initiatives. Built in 2018, the facility includes a mix of office, warehouse, and refrigerated space for cold storage. It has achieved Energy Star Certification and features a ~327 kW rooftop solar photovoltaic array, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability. In 2018, Easterly assumed all redevelopment activities and later in 2018 commenced a 20-year non-cancelable lease with the General Services Administration (GSA) on this mission critical facility.
